Medical student opportunities in Endocrinology

We host students from University College London (UCL) and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) medical schools, as well as elective students from both within the UK as well as internationally.

We regularly receive medical students from the University College London (UCL) and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) medical schools as part of their Student Selected Component (SSC) programmes. These are usually four week placements during which time students have the opportunity to experience and participate in all areas of our department, from joining inpatient ward rounds to observing outpatient clinics. Students are expected to prepare a case presentation at the end of their rotation.

We also accept students on elective placements, for which a placement fee is charged. Please see the GOSH Learning Academy pages and email student.observer.placements@gosh.nhs.uk for more details of how to apply.

We host students on a 1 week placement as part of the clinical component of the iBSc in Paediatrics and Child Health programme at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. These are shorter placements providing a brief taster of all aspects of paediatric endocrinology and are organised internally.

Potential work experience students can apply via the GOSH Young Visitors Programme or by emailing young.visitors@gosh.nhs.uk.
