Being in hospital after an operation by Helen, 16

Read Helen's real story to find out what it's like to stay at Great Ormond Street Hospital after an operation.

Nervous

I had headaches and swelling up of my head and eyebrows. Well I was a bit nervous as I was going down to the theatre, I felt a bit weird. You know because you do, I felt really tired. And I didn’t really like wake up probably until the next day.

My head doesn’t feel much really it just feels a bit lighter I think in a way. Don’t really notice about the stitches, it’s just still healing I think.

Very friendly

The hospital isn’t too bad you get used to it and the staff are nice and very friendly. I suppose being with my mum helps a lot. It’s a bit more company and I feel a bit better now because I know something’s being done. Hopefully it will get better soon.
