The General Paediatric Team provides general paediatric medical input to patients across the hospital to support and improve holistic care for children and young people in Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). 

Cystic fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease which mainly affects your lungs and digestive system. It clogs up these organs with thick, sticky mucus which can lead to symptoms like a cough, chest infections and difficulty absorbing and digesting fat in food.

Severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID)

This booklet has been produced jointly between PID UK, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and the Great North Children’s Hospital. The information has been reviewed by the PID UK Medical Advisory Panel and Patient Representative Panel and by families affected by PID. It is designed to help answer the questions families may have about the immune condition called severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) but should not replace advice from a clinical immunologist.

Richard Hewitt

Richard Hewitt is a Paediatric Otolaryngologist Ear Nose and Throat (ENT),  Head & Neck and Tracheal Consultant. He is the Director of the National Service for Severe Tracheal Disease and The Great Ormond Street "Tracheal Team" and the Co-Director of the Great Ormond Street Hospital & University College Hospital Foetal Airway Service.

Richard is committed to the safe, effective and efficient care of children and was awarded the Great Ormond Street Hospital "Best Surgical Consultant Award" in March 2017
