Pelican Ward
Pelican Ward at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) cares for children and young people with dermatology (skin) and rheumatology (joint and muscle) conditions. It will also look after children with infectious diseases and some immunology disorders.
There are 16 beds, all of which are in single cubicles with en suite bathrooms and space for one parent to stay. There are also six spaces for patients who visit the ward for treatment during the day.

Pelican Ward is on Level 7 of the new Premier Inn Clinical Building (PICB), part of the Mittal Children’s Medical Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Who you will meet
Pelican Ward is mainly run by our team of nurses, who work closely with the doctors to care for your child. Other staff who work on the ward include the discharge coordinator, physiotherapists, a ward administrator, social workers, occupational therapists, healthcare assistants, a play specialist, dietitians and housekeeping staff.

Facilities
You are a valued member of your child‘s healthcare team and we encourage you to take part in his or her care as much as possible while in hospital.
Meals are not provided for parents, but food and drink can be bought from various places within the hospital and local area. You may want to bring in your own snacks and drinks. Parents are welcome to use the ward kitchen outside of patient mealtimes to prepare these.
Pelican Ward has a play room with one area for younger children and another for older children and teenagers with toys, games and crafts. The play room will continue to be supervised by our play specialist during office hours but you will be responsible for your child at other times as you are now.
For mothers who wish to breastfeed, we provide a dedicated room. We also provide the equipment to 'express' breast milk so your child can be fed through a nasogastric tube, if necessary.
