Education and training within the Speech and Language Therapy department

The Speech and Language Therapy department at Great Ormond Street Hospital is actively involved in several areas of education and training.

Speech and language therapists (SLTs) contribute towards core training for students on undergraduate and postgraduate SLT training programmes, and provide specialist courses for advanced SLTs. The department also offers teaching to other disciplines, such as nurses and doctors.

International work

The department has long-established links with Sri Lanka since the inception of the Sri Lankan Cleft Lip and Palate project in 1985.

It has helped to develop the first Sri Lanka Speech and Language Therapy training course. Now, over sixty speech and language therapists are qualified.
