Dr Jackson undertook undergraduate training at University College London and St George’s Hospital Medical School qualifying in 1981. After medical posts at St George’s she trained in anaesthesia in London and Newcastle. Prior to her appointment as a consultant she undertook a research Fellowship at Great Ormond Street.
