Dr Jonathan Smith is a Consultant paediatric anaesthetist.He has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in the anaesthetic department since 2004.

Specialisms

All aspects of general paediatric anaesthesia with a special emphasis on anaesthesia for ENT surgery, scoliosis correction and endoscopy.

Dr Smith has an active interest in teaching and training and is an experienced instructor on Advanced Paediatric Life Support courses.

Qualifications

Registered degrees: MB. BS. BSc. FRCA. MA. MAcadMEd.

Dr Smith received his undergraduate training at University College London and completed his general anaesthetic training at St Bartholomew’s and the London Hospitals and at University College London Hospital.

Speciality training in Paediatric Anaesthesia was completed at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto.

Dr Smith is the Co-College Tutor at Great Ormond Street for the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He is also the European representative on the Paediatric Committee of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthiologists (WFSA).

Research Interests

Dr Smith is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Child Health.

He has published a number of journal articles and book chapters and regularly lectures at the Royal College of Anaesthetists on paediatric resuscitation.
