Welcome to Lion Ward

Astrid: There are many wards at Great Ormond Street Hospital, each helping children in different ways.

Hi, my name’s Astrid and I’m going to show you Lion Ward.

This is Lion Ward. Lion Ward treats children with cancer and leukaemia.

This is the nurses – hi nurses!

Nurses: Hello!

I came here three years ago because I had leukaemia. I felt really scared at first then I got better and better and better and happier.

Robyn: Hi Astrid!

Astrid: Hi! This is Robyn and this is where she prepares all of the chemotherapy stuff.

There are 14 beds on the ward in single rooms, each with their own bathroom. All of them have space for mum or dad to sleep.

There’s also a parents kitchen where mums and dads can make a drink or snack.

This is the playroom. There’s lots of toys here and there’s an inside and outside area. My favourite toy here is the piano.

This is the complementary therapy room for things like massage to make you feel better.

You can find Lion Ward on Level 6 of the Variety Club Building.
