Common investigations undertaken by the Tracheal service

Each referral to the Tracheal service is presented at the weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting.At this meeting, we will discuss your child's history and any imaging/investigations that have been performed up to that date at your local hospital. We will then make a decision as to whether to proceed to treatment or whether further investigations are required.

It may be possible for some of these investigations to be performed at your local hospital but often, due to their specialist nature, they will need to be undertaken at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

These may include:

• CT scan
• flexible bronchoscopy
• bronchoscopy, bronchogram and optical coherence tomography
• microlaryngoscopy and bronchoscopy
• videofluoroscopy
• echocardiogram
• cardiac catheterisation
