Trust response to 2010 National NHS staff survey

16 March 2011

Responding to the CQC Staff Survey for 2010, Dr Jane Collins, chief executive, Great Ormond Street Hospital, said:

“This survey gives us an independent overview of what is working well for our staff, and the areas we need to improve on.

“We are especially pleased to see that 93 per cent of staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital feel their role makes a difference to patients reflecting the high levels of motivation and job satisfaction at the Trust.

“We have also scored well on reporting incidents. Patient safety is at the centre of all our work and this figure reflects our staff being aware of safety as a key objective.

“Our staff also reported they feel well supported by their immediate managers and have regular appraisals and personal development plans drawn up.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole team here for all their hard work over the last year.”

Notes to editors

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is the country’s leading centre for treating sick children, with the widest range of specialists under one roof.

With the UCL Institute of Child Health, we are the largest centre for paediatric research outside the US and play a key role in training children’s health specialists for the future.

Our charity needs to raise £50 million every year to help rebuild and refurbish Great Ormond Street Hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research. With your help we provide world class care to our very ill children and their families.
