The Secretary of State for Health has given approval for Great Ormond Street
Hospital for Children NHS Trust (GOSH) to proceed with its Foundation Trust
application. This means the hospital is looking for people to be elected to its
Members’ Council to hold the organisation to account.
Councillors will be ambassadors for the Trust, keep an eye on what the Trust
is doing, influence how decisions are made and services are delivered.
Councillors can be patients and their families, young people over the age of 16,
members of the public and hospital staff. Meeting four times a year, this will
be an opportunity to have their voice heard and represent the views of
others.
Election nominations open on Tuesday 9 August, with the closing date of
Friday 16 September. The results of the elections will be available on Thursday
3 November.
The first meeting of the people elected to the Members’ Council will take
place on 17 November 2011 (4-6pm), at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This will
be the first opportunity for Council Members to advise the hospital on strategy
and priorities.
