Normal service to resume Wednesday

2 February 2009

Great Ormond Street Hospital expects to run as normal on Wednesday 4th February and thereafter.

As previously announced, we are still cancelling all appointments today Tuesday.

Families whose appointments and treatments were cancelled on Monday and Tuesday will be called to reschedule.

If your child becomes unwell contact your GP or A+E in the first instance.

We regret any inconvenience caused: our staff have made heroic efforts to get to work but the disruption to transport and schools meant we did not have safe levels of staff to carry out non urgent treatments.

Thanks to staff for their efforts and to families for their understanding.

Notes to editors

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is the country’s leading centre for treating sick children, with the widest range of specialists under one roof.

With the UCL Institute of Child Health, we are the largest centre for paediatric research outside the US and play a key role in training children’s health specialists for the future.

Our charity needs to raise £50 million every year to help rebuild and refurbish Great Ormond Street Hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research. With your help we provide world class care to our very ill children and their families.
