Healthcare for London public consultation

4 January 2008

Healthcare for London is developing new ways to improve the healthcare of Londoners over the next ten years. This transformation is a major task, but already partner organisations, working groups and members of the public have come up with ideas to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of London’s healthcare.

A consultation about the proposals, led by London's 31 Primary Care Trusts and Surrey PCT will run from 30 November 2007 to 7 March 2008. They are consulting on the proposals outlined in the consultation document, which is based on A Framework for Action, written by Professor Lord Darzi.

Londoners' thoughts are valued on how the NHS in London could provide better, safer, more accessible services.  For more information, details of public meetings or to obtain a copy of the consultation document visit: http://www.healthcareforlondon.nhs.uk/

Notes to editors

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is the country’s leading centre for treating sick children, with the widest range of specialists under one roof.

With the UCL Institute of Child Health, we are the largest centre for paediatric research outside the US and play a key role in training children’s health specialists for the future.

Our charity needs to raise £50 million every year to help rebuild and refurbish Great Ormond Street Hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research. With your help we provide world class care to our very ill children and their families.
