Business as usual

30 September 2008

Following yesterday's incident, Great Ormond Street Hospital is now up and running again and it is business as usual.  Emergency and elective operations are all taking place, as are all outpatient appointments.

Patients on wards which were damaged in yesterday’s incident have been safely 're-housed' on other wards within the hospital.

Seventeen operations were cancelled due to the incident.  We have been actively contacting families to reschedule these, and to ensure that we get them in for their surgery within a maximum of 28 days. Many of them will be much sooner than that.

Any families who had an outpatient appointment cancelled yesterday have been advised to contact the hospital’s Appointment Centre on 0207 829 8880 to reschedule.

With the UCL Institute of Child Health, we are the largest centre for paediatric research outside the US and play a key role in training children’s health specialists for the future.

Our charity needs to raise £50 million every year to help rebuild and refurbish Great Ormond Street Hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research. With your help we provide world class care to our very ill children and their families.
