22 February 2008

'Inside Great Ormond Street Hospital’ is brand new and exclusive to This Morning on ITV1 Monday 25 - Friday 29 February 2008.

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is a national institution, well known for its world class care for children with the most complex and often life-threatening illnesses.  Since the hospital opened its doors in 1852, it has provided unstinting and invaluable support to countless patients and families.  ITV1’s This Morning will spend a week discovering the amazing stories behind just some of the 150,000 patient visits each year.

This Morning begins a special week of programming with a look back at the history of the hospital.  It will look at how medical practices have been developed, the pioneering treatments which have been established and explore what the Peter Pan legacy has brought to the hospital.

The series will also visit the Heart and Lung Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital, one of the leading units in cardiac care for children in the world.  The Oncology department at the hospital is the largest centre for children with cancer in the UK.  This Morning talks to the patients as they wait for life saving surgery.

‘Inside Great Ormond Street Hospital’ is an unmissable series featuring the everyday hero’s from an unforgettable hospital.

Notes to editors

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is the country’s leading centre for treating sick children, with the widest range of specialists under one roof.

With the UCL Institute of Child Health, we are the largest centre for paediatric research outside the US and play a key role in training children’s health specialists for the future.

Our charity needs to raise £50 million every year to help rebuild and refurbish Great Ormond Street Hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research. With your help we provide world class care to our very ill children and their families.
