Play is an important part of life at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as it helps children and young people deal with their fears and worries. We talked to Mair Ansell (Play Specialist) and Suzanne Lyons (Play Worker) who work on Koala Ward, to learn more about what they do.
Dr T-Y Hsia is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon. He has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital for five years and is currently surgical lead for the heart transplantation and mechanical assist program. He also leads the Grown Up Congenital Heart Surgery service at Barts Hospital.
Dr Tara Murphy is a Consultant Paediatric Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist. She has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital since 2003 in neuropsychology and intervention services. In 2012, Dr Murphy co-established and continues to develop and lead the Psychological Medicine Team in the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
Dr Tony Sirimanna is a Paediatric Audiological Physician. He has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for sixteen years and is currently head of the Audiology, Audiological Medicine and Cochlear Implant Department.
Dr Urshla Devalia has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Consultant since 2014. She completed her senior registrar training at the Eastman Dental Hospital and at GOSH. Following this, Urshla worked as a Locum Consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital before taking up a substantive Consultant post at UCLH (Eastman Dental Hospital- EDH) Wednesday to Friday, and at GOSH on Mondays and Tuesdays. She is lead for Dental Trauma at EDH, and Safeguarding Lead for the dental and maxillofacial department at GOSH.
Vanessa Shaw is Head of Dietetics at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. She has practised in paediatrics for many years and has a wide experience in childhood nutrition and dietetics in health and disease.
