Developmental and Augmentative Communication Service (DaACS)

This service is made up of two clinical streams: the Augmentative Communication Service (ACS) and the Developmental Communication Service (DCS).

Augmentative Communication Service

The Augmentative Communication Service has been identified by NHS England as one of fifteen services providing specialised assessment for complex augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems. For children and young people meeting the referral criteria, this will include assessments for devices, provision of equipment and training, maintenance and support. This service operates to nationally agreed referral criteria, details of which can be found on our website.

Developmental Communication Service

The Developmental Communication Service provides detailed assessment of children’s physical abilities, vision, cognition and communication skills. The service can address questions on a wide range of communication difficulties and can offer advice to families and local teams around management, intervention and support.
