CHARGE syndrome

CHARGE syndrome is a condition which causes a pattern of birth defects. Babies with the illness are often born with life-threatening problems including heart defects and breathing problems.

Many have swallowing and breathing difficulties, and most have hearing loss, vision loss, and balance problems which delay their development and communication.

All babies with CHARGE syndrome are likely to require medical and educational intervention for many years. They can spend many months in the hospital having extensive surgery and other treatments.
