Autism

Autism is a complex neuro-developmental condition, which affects the way a person thinks, perceives the world around them and how they interact with their environment.

It is often referred to as an ‘autism spectrum condition’. This is because each child has a unique pattern of strengths and difficulties, which can be present in different degrees of severity and specific ways.

Recent research studies indicate that autism spectrum disorders affect approximately one per cent of the population, with more boys being diagnosed as girls.
