Division of Mucosal Immunology

The Mucosal Immunology Division is a national and international referral department for complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients and currently provides care for 300 of these children. The department is also focussed on tertiary and quaternary level referrals for children with complex gastrointestinal food allergy disorders.

Division of Neurogastroenterology and Motility Disorders

Using state-of-the-art technology (high resolution oesophageal, antroduodenal, colonic combined impedance-manometry, esophageal pH-impedance, electrogastrography) the Neurogastroenterology and Motility service is focused on providing diagnosis, treatment and long-term follow-up for the most complex paediatric patients who are often referred by other paediatric gastroenterologists or paediatric consultants.

Division of Intestinal Care and Nutrition

The Intestinal Care team at Great Ormond Street is the largest centre to provide tertiary care for patients who require long term IV Nutrition. The need for long term IV nutrition can be for a wide range of complex conditions including pseudo-obstruction, short gut or post BMT.  We have adopted a multi-disciplinary approach to safely discharging families home on IV nutrition and monitoring their follow up care and long term Nutrition needs, and we work closely with the Community Teams and Local Hospitals in providing their care.
