Coming to GOSH

What to bring

  • Your ' Child Health Record' (red book) if your child is under 5 years old.
  • Your family doctor's (GP) address if you have changed doctors recently.
  • Any samples, for instance samples of urine, which you have been asked to bring.
  • Anything else you have been asked to bring, such as food or drink, special equipment or reports about your child from your family doctor (GP) or local team.
  • All medicines your child is currently taking and any that you might need yourself during your child's stay.
  • Any questions you want to ask and some paper to make notes of you like.
  • Proof that you are receiving benefits, if applicable.
  • Special feeds or baby milk, nappies and baby wipes.
  • Any forms given to you on a previous visit.
  • Your diary so you can book another appointment.
  • Your appointment letter.
  • Day and night clothes - even if your child is coming as a day patient, it is wise to bring a change of clothes just in case.
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste and other wash things - again just in case for day patients.
  • Your childs special toy, even if it is old and worn.
  • A dummy or bottle if your child uses one.

Please bring only the essentials, as space is limited on some of our wards, particularly for large bags and suitcases.
