Dragonfly Ambulatory Care is for children and young people from all over the world who need a bone marrow or stem cell transplant.
This could be because of blood disorders, cancers, leukaemias or problems with their immunity or metabolism.
Patients on Dragonfly can have small theatre procedures, chemotherapy or scans.
Dragonfly Ambulatory Care has four beds and is based on Butterfly Ward.
Dragonfly Ambulatory Care is a daycare unit, which means you will have your tests, stay on Dragonfly for a while to recover and go home the same day.
Staff on the ward
Dragonfly is mainly run by our team of nurses, who work closely with the doctors to help you get better.
Other staff who work on the ward include healthcare assistants, play specialists and housekeeping staff.
The following members of staff will be available to help you during your stay on Dragonfly Ambulatory Care:

- haematology and oncology – for children and young people with leukaemia and solid tumours
- bone marrow transplant

Facilities for children and young people
Dragonfly has a playroom with lots of toys, games and crafts.
There is a play specialist who organises activities and can help you get ready for any procedures you may have in hospital.
You can also use the Activity Centre on the ground floor of the Southwood Building, which has an outdoor area and a dedicated room (the Den) for teenagers.
