Butterfly Ward

Butterfly Ward is mainly for haematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant patients, although other conditions can be treated here too.

The children and young people on Bumblebee Ward are international and private patients.

Butterfly Ward has 14 patient rooms with four special rooms for bone marrow transplant patients who need to stay separate from other people.

Patients on Butterfly Ward range from newborn to 16 years old, although most are under eight.

Staff on the ward

Conditions we treat

Butterfly Ward treats patients from all over the world with serious medical conditions.

Facilities for children and young people

Butterfly Ward has a playroom with lots of toys, games and crafts.

There is a play specialist who organises activities and can help you get ready for any procedures you may have in hospital.

You can also use the Activity Centre on the ground floor of the Southwood Building, which has an outdoor area and a dedicated room (the Den) for teenagers.

If you are well enough, you can have lessons at the hospital school, which is on the ground floor of the Southwood Building, next to the Activity Centre.

If you are not well enough to go to school, teachers can also come to Butterfly Ward and give you lessons at the bedside.
