Play specialists work in hospitals and help patients to have fun. They also help patients to get better by showing them how to cope with their situation.
As well as keeping children busy with games, toys and activities, play specialists can help in other ways too.
For example, they can show children what will happen during an operation using dolls or other toys. They also help to take the patient's mind off things, when they are in hospital. This is really useful when a child is worried about a test, treatment or operation. Often, by playing with a patient they can see what the patient is feeling.
You'll find play specialists on the wards through-out the hospital.
