Clinical psychologists work with lots of different people. They mostly help people who have problems with how they are feeling or thinking.
They can also help people to change their behaviour. This is if it has been causing the person difficulties.
People who are feeling sad, worried or have problems with eating and food often see clinical psychologists.
Clinical psychologists also see people with physical
health problems. This might be somebody with a brain injury, or
problems coping with a long illness. People with learning difficulties
can also be helped by clinical psychologists.
A clinical psychologist talks with the patient a
lot. They also watch the patient’s behaviour. After they make a
diagnosis, they will decide on what treatment will help.
