My broken leg by David, 10

Hello! I want to tell you how I broke my leg.

I was riding my bike pretty fast and I went over water and I lost control. I fell over my leg, my bike fell over me and I heard a snap and felt pain in my leg. I couldn't get up. I was crying in pain.

A neighbour saw me and took me to my house. My parents took me to the hospital. I had my leg bones, the two in the lower leg, broken in three places.

In hospital

I was in hospital some days and the morning after the accident I was in so much pain. I had a full leg cast for ten weeks. It came off recently and the doctor said that I can run and play normal in three months.

Now I'm trying to walk normally but it’s difficult to do so because of the bones and muscles in my broken leg. I have pins inserted in my leg – it hurts sometimes but I can walk! I'm looking forward to playing and doing PE classes at school like normal.

My friends

The nurses and doctors were very good with me. They gave me a wheelchair.

My friends visited me and signed my cast. The cast was very uncomfortable. I had it a long time and sometimes I was angry and I didn't want to do anything, but now I'm feeling good and my doctor said that my leg is completely healed.

I thought that I would have a limp for the rest of my life but that's not real. I want to say hello to all my hospital friends if they read my story!
