Care Quality Commission annual healthcheck

CQC Review of Compliance Report for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust

The annual health check is the system for monitoring the performance of NHS organisations. It is managed by the Care Quality Commission.

For 2008/09 Great Ormond Street Hospital is pleased to have been assessed as ‘good’, as regards its finances.

Regarding quality of services the Trust has been rated ‘fair’. This relates to failing 1 (one) waiting times target in 1 (one) clinical speciality, spinal surgery.

The full report is available on the Care Quality Commission website.

As part of the annual health check the Trust is required to publish its self assessment of how we meet the 24 core standards set out in the Department of Health's Standards for Better Health. Usually this would be for the entire year, but because of the transition to a new system of registration by the Care Quality Commission from January 2010, the current declaration is only required to cover the period 1st April -31st October 2009.

Having undertaken the self assessment, Trust Board felt it was unable to declare full compliance with one standard for this period. However an action plan is in place to rectify this which is being monitored by the Executive team.

Read our declaration of compliance.
