Weston House opened in October 2004
and includes a state-of-the-art training and development suite for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) staff and the Paul O'Gorman Patient Hotel, which provides 30 short-stay family
rooms and eight long-stay transitional care flats.
Weston House allows children
who do not need to be in a nursed bed to stay near the hospital. This is less
stressful for the whole family and offers a home-from-home environment.
All the
artworks chosen for Weston House are intended to appeal to a wide audience.
They have been created by different artists working in a range of media. They
include:
-
Two donor
recognition commissioned artworks which celebrate the generous support of
Children with Leukaemia, Garry Weston and the Garfield Weston Foundation.
-
A
large sculpture called ‘Noah’s Ark’
by the Mexican artist Heriberto Ortega – a generous donation from the estate of
Deborah Weil.
- A range of paintings, photographs
and prints by a number of artists including Alex Lowery, Jack Milroy, Katty
Mcmurray, Helen Fay and Erin Burns.
