Why did you stand for election? I have been involved with GOSH for five years through the Members Forum, Food Group, advising on the redevelopment, Foundation Trust Steering Board and on interview panels.
I have been hugely impressed with the work of the hospital and staff and wanted to offer more support by joining the Members Council.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I hope I can combine some of my professional experience and my enthusiasm for the hospital's work to help the Members Council operate effectively and supportively, enabling us to be both a critical friend and a real resource for GOSH to use.

Why did you stand for election? How do you repay someone for saving your child's life? I became a Foundation Trust member at GOSH after my daughter Harriet sustained dreadful injuries after being hit by a car in June 2004. She received specialist care in GOSH PICU, on life support in a coma. With their dedicated specialist staff, Harriet's life was saved, and she made a remarkable recovery.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? We don't always have an opportunity to choose what happens in our lives, but we do have a choice to make a difference to what really matters.
As with any parent whose life has been touched by GOSH, my passion is to ensure that GOSH continues to remain a world class provider of care and treatment for sick children.
Rebecca Broadhurst (nee Miller)
Why did you stand for election? I'm a regular visitor to Great Ormond Street with my daughter Imogen.
The hospital is a wonderful help to us and I applied to be a Councillor to give some help back to the hospital.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? In this role I hope to be a useful link between GOSH members from North London and the hospital's management and to be part of a dialogue to improve and assist the hospital however we can.

Why did you stand for election? I have intimate knowledge of how Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) functions and wish to be involved in its future direction.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I was a Professor of Paediatric Surgery from 1979 to 2004 and developed the Unit into one of the top five departments in the World.
I was Chairman of the Division of Surgery, a member of the Medical Advisory Committee and on the Executive Committee of the Institute of Child Health (ICH). I was recently elected an Honorary Fellow.
I believe that my depth of knowledge and experience as a member of staff for many years will be of value to the Members Council.
I have clear ideas of how the hospital should enhance its role as a national and international referral centre and how the association with the ICH is absolutely vital for research and the development of new methods of treatment.
Louise Clark
Why did you stand for election? I wanted to be a Councillor as I have a long history with GOSH. I was a patient in the craniofacial department.
After four years of volunteering I wanted to continue to give something back to the hospital and help the hospital to develop as a Foundation Trust.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I want to ensure that the patient and parent experience are at the heart of decision-making, and that the Foundation Trust is developed in a way which involves patients, parents and staff, and makes Great Ormond Street the best possible hospital it can be.

Why did you stand for election? In 1972, as a young baby, I received life-saving heart surgery at GOSH which has allowed me to live my life to the full, become a successful businessman in IT, a professionally qualified diver and a father to three great kids. Now it is time to give something back.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? My aim is to act on behalf of all the Public Foundation Trust members and bring my business and IT experience to the role as well as my experience as a patient who was successfully treated at GOSH, but who still deals with the long-term effects of a heart condition.
Julia Olszewska
Why did you stand for election? The reason I stood for election as Councillor is because I want to bring my experience as a physiotherapist to develop patient care, rehabilitation and stay in GOSH. Therefore, I want to be a part of very excellent organisation.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I wish to bring a fresh look on the Trust and always put the child first no matter what decisions need to be made.
By working together we are able to use our experience to get the best healthcare service for the young patient and their family. By developing new research and treatment and making use of patient time more effectively, waiting time can be minimised and the stay in hospital more pleasurable.
