Why did you stand for election? Having been a patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), standing for election gave me the opportunity to help give something back.
I also wish to represent patients and help make sure their experience and views are listened to within GOSH.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? In my role I hope to achieve new ways for patients to communicate with the hospital and implement any suggestions or ideas they might have.

Why did you stand for election? GOSH is very special to me as I have had a personal experience there. I had major heart surgery.
I would like to give something back, be part of GOSH and help make it even better for patients, parents and staff.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I hope to make the hospital even better than it already is and help make it a better place with outstanding facilities for patients, parents and staff and continue to ensure that the child comes first and always.

Why did you stand for election? I will gain good work experience for my future working alongside such different individuals.
I would also like to give something back to help GOSH. I was once a patient and they treated me so well. I believe I could be a good role model for the youth.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I hope to be able to make a positive difference for the sake of GOSH.
I hope to be the voice of the younger generation and be able to do as much as I can in order to help GOSH. Finally, I would like to gain more confidence by working with other people.

Why did you stand for election? I stood for election because I felt I owed something to GOSH. They helped me and my family through extremely tough times.
I am still an outpatient and want to bring my experience to the council and use it as a platform to improve the amazing services GOSH provides.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? My intention is to boost the comfort of patients in the hospital.
I would like to form a network of patients through which patients can communicate with each other about their issues. In addition I hope that I can contribute to the patients' experience.

Why did you stand for election? I stood for election in order to give a little back to the amazing hospital that has given so much incredible care, for so long, to my eldest daughter.
I hope that my firsthand experience of the challenges and struggles faced by parents and families of children who are suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses can help influence and guide the strategic direction of the hospital.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? As a Councillor I hope to ensure that the valuable opinions of patients and parents continue to be reflected in the future plans of the hospital and that it has the means and the ability to continue to successfully promote the child first and always.
Lynne Gothard
Why did you stand for election? Like many others, I'm sure, I stood for election simply because I am a parent of a young patient and I wanted to give something back to the hospital that has provided such excellent care for my son in the past nine years in the three departments he has been involved with.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I hope I can be an effective voice for other carers in enhancing their experience with the hospital.
The loneliness, the fear and the anger experienced by some families with very sick children must be understood, acknowledged and supported to ensure the child really is 'first and always.'
Lisa Chin-a-young
Why did you stand for election? My relationship with GOSH started four years ago with my son's first surgery here. We are very grateful for the care that GOSH provided.
A year later, I became involved as a parent representative, and now wanted to contribute as a Councillor in GOSH's next chapter as a Foundation Trust hospital.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I hope that in my tenure as Councillor I will have a tangible positive impact by helping to shape the new Members Council for this and future sessions, representing parents/carers and actioning feedback, and helping GOSH treat more children even better.
Claudia Fisher
Why did you stand for election? I stood for election because I am incredibly grateful to GOSH. They saved my son’s life so I really wanted to give something back.
I have been a member of the Members Forum since 2008 and am keen to continue this work.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I hope to help make GOSH a better place to stay and visit for both children and parents.
I will draw on my personal experiences to do this, as well as those of the friends I made while my son was having his Bone Marrow Transplant.
Camilla Pease
Why did you stand for election? As a parent of a young child who has received world-class heart surgery at GOSH, I stood for election to the Members Council to give back some of my time to help GOSH shape its future and continue to provide excellent service to children and their families in these rapidly changing times.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I can bring my management, communication and research skills, to listen and be an active voice on the Council.
I will represent the views, concerns and praises, expressed by those of you who are parents/carers who live outside London. I would like to hear of your experiences within GOSH and in joint clinics outside London.
John Charnock
Why did you stand for election? I stood for election because my granddaughter is a patient and is receiving excellent care.
I have been assisting the facilities group for some time and have gained some working knowledge of GOSH. I wish to use that knowledge plus my professional experience to maximise the experience and benefits of patients.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role? I hope to support the Trust in implementing any changes that will raise the profile and service provided by the hospital to benefit all who attend or work there.
I will liaise with patients and carers from outside London to ensure their comments are considered when developing business and improvement plans.
