We asked our appointed councillors what they hope to achieve in their roles.
London Borough of Camden
I am the parent of a former Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) patient, as well as a Camden Councillor. I am currently the Chair of the Children, Schools and Families Scrutiny Committee of the Council. This follows a career in education - in schools, colleges, and mainly universities.
I have served on the original GOSH Members Forum, the Clinical Research Adoptions Committee at the Institute for Child Health, and interview panels for senior clinical staff.
I look forward to bringing this experience to the new Members' Council and representing the interests of the community of Camden.
UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health
I am working at GOSH's partner institute, the Institute of Child Health, where I am involved in research developing new treatments for children, including gene therapy.
It is my aim to promote continued successful research and also the training of future generations of medical scientists and clinicians interested in curing children's diseases.
The Children's Hospital School at GOSH and UCH
This role will be a new experience for me and I would like to gain knowledge on how the hospital is run. This will then enable me to achieve success for GOSH by perfecting the weaknesses of the hospital using my life experience of being a patient.
NHS England (London Region)
self management uk
I am a contract manager at self management uk, the leading charity in self-management support for people living with long-term health conditions.
Self-management training has helped me to take control of my own health condition and I now develop and deliver programmes for young people who live with long-term health conditions as well as young carers.
I believe that my experience and background can therefore provide valuable insight for the Trust on the patient and young person’s perspective and I will feed back information about the Trust, its vision and its performance to my organisation and its’ members.
